An extremely rare Baronial Armenian issue
Lot 3930
ARMENIA, Cilician Armenia. Baronial. Uncertain, circa late 11th to early 12th centuries. Pogh (Bronze, 18 mm, 1.19 g), uncertain mint. ՔՍ ('Kse' in Armenian). Rev. Cross pattée with small triangles in the angles; around, illegible legend in Armenian. AC -. CCA -. Leu Web Auction 7 (2019), 1708 var. (small 'o' at the right arm of Ք and cross pattée with one triangle in the angles only). Obolos 5 (2016), 1051. Roma E-Auction 12 (2014), 1327. Zeno-124809 var. (small 'o' at the right arm of Ք and cross pattée with one triangle in the angles only). Extremely rare. Some deposits, otherwise, very fine.

From a Swiss collection, formed before 2005.

In Armenian, ՔՍ is a common abbreviation for Kristos. Unfortunately, the legend on the reverse has not been deciphered yet. ՔՐԻՍՏՈՍ = Kristos was suggested, but this seems rather unlikely, as it would imply that the coin is anonymous and unsigned.
